BCBAs in Texas: A Wild Guesstimate
Disclaimer: This post is not intended to be a definitive answer to the query "how many BCBAs are in Texas." It is rather a humorous attempt to provide a ballpark figure using some highly unscientific methods.
Introduction
Texas, the Lone Star State, is known for its vast landscapes, cowboy culture, and delicious barbecue. But did you know that it's also home to a thriving community of BCBAs (Board Certified Behavior Analysts)?
The Great BCBA Census of 2023
Unfortunately, there's no official, up-to-date count of BCBAs in Texas. The last time anyone tried to do a census, it ended in a massive brawl at a Chuck E. Cheese. So, we're going to have to get creative.
Method 1: The "Ask a Texan" Approach
I asked a few of my Texan friends how many BCBAs they knew. Here's what they said:
- Friend 1: "A bunch. Like, more than there are cows."
- Friend 2: "Probably as many as there are tumbleweeds."
- Friend 3: "I dunno, but I'm pretty sure one of them stole my queso."
Based on this highly scientific data, I'm going to estimate that there are at least a few thousand BCBAs in Texas.
Method 2: The "Look at the Yellow Pages" Method
Remember the Yellow Pages? Yeah, neither do I. But I bet if we did, we could find a bunch of BCBAs listed under "Behavior Analysts."
Method 3: The "Drive Around and Count the Offices" Method
This one would take a really long time, and I'm pretty sure I'd get lost. So, I'm going to skip it.
Conclusion
So, how many BCBAs are in Texas? Well, it's a lot. Like, a really lot. Probably more than there are Whataburger restaurants.
Bonus Fact: Did you know that Texas is the birthplace of behavior analysis? It's true! The first behavior analysis program in the United States was founded at the University of North Texas in 1961.
I hope this post has been informative and entertaining. If you're a BCBA in Texas, please let me know in the comments. I'd love to chat!
